The Synergistic Research PowerCell 8 SX is a compact, high-end audiophile power conditioner that brings Galileo and SRX PowerCell technologies into a smaller, more accessible chassis. With a non‑current‑limiting design, advanced EM Cells, UEF/ULF biasing and premium materials, it is engineered to lower the noise floor and improve dynamics and resolution in serious stereo and home audio systems across the EU.
The PowerCell 8 SX uses a Neutrik Powercon 32 A input and offers 8 Purple UEF Schuko outlets, providing robust, secure connection and ample current delivery for amplifiers, preamps, DACs and source components. Point‑to‑point 10 AWG (5.3 mm²) Silver Matrix wiring throughout the unit ensures ultra‑low‑impedance power distribution, helping your components perform closer to their full potential.
At the heart of the design is a fully re‑engineered electromagnetic cell derived from the flagship SRX PowerCell. The patented EM Cell in the PowerCell 8 SX offers roughly twice the surface area of previous folded EM Cells, increasing conditioning power and energy storage while further lowering the perceived noise floor.
A sophisticated EM Cell power supply from the Galileo SX PowerCell and a reformulated Ultra Low‑Frequency RF bias work together to deliver cleaner power and a blacker background. A Galileo SX dual‑frequency ULF generator, using technology developed for Atmosphere Acoustic Field Generators, lets you choose between two voicings via a front‑panel control: a Blue setting optimized for acoustic instruments, vocals and smaller‑scale performances, and a Red setting that convincingly portrays large‑scale orchestral works and electronic music.
Grounding performance is enhanced by a 24k gold Galileo SX tuning module and an internal Galileo SX Ground Plane, which together help reduce noise and expand soundstage depth and width. The PowerCell 8 SX can also be integrated into a broader Synergistic Research ecosystem with matching power cables and ground solutions, creating a coherent, high‑performance power management chain for demanding audiophiles.
Despite its compact footprint, the PowerCell 8 SX uses a solid chassis machined from aircraft‑grade aluminum with a carbon‑fiber top cover and carbon feet to control mechanical resonance. Weighing only 5 kg and measuring 30.5 × 15.2 × 11.4 cm (12 × 6 × 4.5 inch), it fits easily into racks and furniture while delivering performance that challenges far larger and more expensive power conditioners.
