Power amplifiers raise the line-level signal from a preamplifier, streamer or DAC to the power required by passive loudspeakers. Important considerations include output power and current capability, speaker impedance and sensitivity, connection options, and compatibility with the preamplifier and listening room. The right power amplifier is part of a carefully integrated HiFi chain and should complement the complete system rather than be chosen by individual specifications alone.
