The PSI Audio A25-Ms Studio Black is a Swiss-made, fully analogue three-way active reference monitor for demanding midfield, main-monitor and mastering applications. Its long-throw woofer, Extended Dome Driver midrange, handmade tweeter, dedicated amplification and phase-controlled design provide full-range monitoring, high output capability and exceptionally stable stereo imaging.
Product description
The PSI Audio A25-Ms Studio Black is a flagship active reference monitor for engineers who require the scale, headroom and low-frequency authority of a main-monitor system while retaining the focus, imaging precision and placement flexibility of a high-resolution midfield monitor. Handmade and individually calibrated in Switzerland, it is designed for critical mixing, mastering, recording, post-production and high-end monitoring environments where compact two-way speakers cannot provide sufficient bass extension, output capability or midrange separation.
The A25-Ms follows PSI Audio’s fully analogue monitor philosophy. It uses no DSP in the audio path and no digital crossover processing. Instead, PSI Audio combines purpose-built drivers, analogue crossover electronics, dedicated amplifiers and individual anechoic calibration. This approach supports direct transient response, low system latency and stable translation for decisions about EQ, compression, depth, low-frequency balance and stereo placement.
The three-way system combines a 210 mm woofer diaphragm, PSI Audio’s Extended Dome Driver midrange and a 27 mm handmade dome tweeter. The EXD midrange combines useful characteristics of dome and cone designs, helping the monitor reproduce vocals, guitars, piano, snare and other critical midrange content with speed, natural body and strong separation. By assigning bass, midrange and treble to dedicated drivers, the A25-Ms maintains clarity and composure with dense productions, wide dynamic ranges and high monitoring levels.
The midrange and tweeter section can be rotated by 90 degrees. This allows the A25-Ms to be positioned vertically or horizontally while preserving the intended dispersion pattern. It is especially useful in rooms where monitor position is determined by console geometry, screen placement, height restrictions or the need for a horizontal layout.
With a frequency range from 28 Hz to 23 kHz at −6 dB and a tightly controlled response from 38 Hz to 20 kHz, the A25-Ms delivers genuinely full-range monitoring. It provides reliable information about kick drum fundamentals, bass guitar, subharmonic energy, electronic low end and the relationship between bass weight and overall mix clarity. For large rooms, immersive systems or projects requiring still more low-frequency headroom, it can be integrated with PSI Audio subwoofers and AvAA acoustic-treatment systems.
PSI Audio’s CPR, Compensated Phase Response, maintains controlled phase behaviour through the crossover regions. It supports focused imaging, strong transient definition and reliable depth perception, helping engineers judge panning, vocal placement, time-based effects and mono compatibility more accurately.
The A25-Ms also incorporates PSI Audio’s AOI, Active Output Impedance, technology. AOI is designed to control driver behaviour and reduce resonance-related effects. Together with the three-way layout, controlled waveguide and dedicated amplification, it supports tight bass, differentiated decay and stable performance on demanding programme material.
The A25-Ms delivers 111 dB continuous SPL, 114 dB short-term SPL and 124 dB peak SPL at one metre. Its 80° horizontal by 40° vertical dispersion creates a broad but controlled listening area while limiting excessive energy toward desks, ceilings and floors. It is designed for listening distances of approximately 1.3 to 4 metres, making it suitable for larger nearfield positions, midfield work and compact main-monitor applications.
The Studio Black finish offers a discreet, professional appearance while retaining the same high-resolution PSI Audio reference-monitor platform. Each monitor is individually measured and calibrated, making the A25-Ms an excellent primary reference for stereo, surround and immersive production systems.
