The PSI Audio A14-M Studio Red is a compact Swiss-made active nearfield monitor for desktop production, editing, mobile studios, broadcast and smaller control rooms. Its fully analogue signal path, individually calibrated drivers, AOI bass control and CPR phase-response technology deliver accurate translation, sharp stereo imaging and reliable monitoring without DSP.
Product description
The PSI Audio A14-M Studio Red is a compact two-way active monitor for engineers, producers and content creators who need serious monitoring accuracy in rooms where space is limited. Handmade and individually calibrated in Switzerland, it brings PSI Audio’s analogue monitor technology into a small cabinet designed for close-range listening between approximately 0.5 and 1 metre.
The A14-M uses a fully analogue signal path. There is no DSP, digital crossover or software-dependent correction in the audio path. PSI Audio instead combines matched drivers, dedicated analogue amplification, controlled crossover behaviour and individual anechoic calibration. The result is a direct, low-latency monitor that makes level, EQ, panning and timing decisions easier to judge in desktop, edit-suite and compact-studio environments.
The two-way system combines a 147 mm woofer with a 27 mm dome tweeter. The compact bass-reflex cabinet provides useful low-frequency information down to 56 Hz at −6 dB, while the separate Class A/B amplification stages supply 70 W RMS to the woofer and 30 W RMS to the tweeter. This gives the A14-M more headroom and bass control than its compact dimensions suggest, making it suitable for detailed work on vocals, acoustic instruments, dialogue, guitars, percussion, synthesizers and electronic production.
PSI Audio’s CPR, or Compensated Phase Response, is designed to control phase behaviour through the 3.6 kHz crossover region. This supports clear transient reproduction, stable stereo placement and focused depth information. For everyday production work, it helps with panning decisions, vocal positioning, reverb and delay assessment, and checking mono compatibility.
The A14-M also incorporates PSI Audio’s AOI, or Active Output Impedance, technology. AOI is designed to control driver behaviour and reduce unwanted resonance. In practice, it supports tighter low-frequency response and clearer transient behaviour, helping the monitor remain informative even when placed in smaller rooms or used at lower working levels.
The A14-M Studio Red is specified at 98 dB continuous SPL, 103 dB short-term SPL and 113 dB peak SPL at one metre. Its 80° horizontal by 35° vertical dispersion creates a focused listening area while reducing excessive sound energy toward desk surfaces, ceilings and floors. This makes it particularly effective for desktop, nearfield stand and compact console setups.
A balanced XLR input ensures simple integration with professional audio interfaces, monitor controllers and analogue studio chains. Rear-panel input sensitivity and 100 Hz bass-roll-off adjustment allow the A14-M to be adapted to different monitor levels and placement conditions, including desktop or near-wall installation.
The Studio Red finish adds PSI Audio’s distinctive visual identity to an otherwise discreet compact monitor. Every unit is individually measured and calibrated before delivery, helping stereo pairs achieve the matching and consistency required for dependable critical listening.
The A14-M belongs first in Studio Monitors and is ideal for small production spaces where accuracy matters more than exaggerated bass or cosmetic hi-fi voicing. For deeper low-frequency monitoring, extended headroom or a full-range 2.1 system, it can be paired with the PSI Audio A125-M subwoofer. Its compact dimensions and neutral, phase-controlled presentation also make it a strong choice for broadcast, post-production, mobile production and high-quality desktop listening.
