The BAE 1073MP is the microphone preamp version of the classic 1073 equaliser, delivering the same Class A, transformer‑coupled British console tone with its harmonically rich low end, slight resonant highs and focused midrange. Instead of paying for onboard EQ you may not always need, the 1073MP concentrates on the head‑amp section and adds modern conveniences like DI and line inputs, making it a versatile front‑end for any serious studio.
 
A Carnhill input transformer with two switchable mic impedances (1200 / 300 ohms) lets the 1073MP work beautifully with a wide variety of microphones, from vintage dynamics to modern condensers and ribbons. The high‑impedance DI is perfect for guitar and synth, while the dedicated line input can add depth and weight to a stereo 2‑bus or individual stems. With up to 71 dB of Class A gain, low noise (around -110 dBu EIN) and a frequency response from 10 Hz to 55 kHz, the 1073MP stays open and musical across a wide bandwidth while still imparting the unmistakable 1073 colour.
 
The included regulated external linear power supply can run up to four BAE channels, keeping mains noise away from the audio path and making the 19" 1U chassis easy to integrate into any rack. Illuminated phase reverse and phantom‑power switches, an impedance selector and robust build quality round out a preamp that feels every bit like a premium piece of console hardware rather than just another utility.
