BAE Audio 1073MP Dual Channel w/out Power Supply
 
The BAE 1073MP Dual Channel without Power Supply is a 19" rackmount mic preamp based on the legendary 1073 console equaliser, stripped back to focus purely on the preamp stage. Each of the two channels delivers the same Class A, transformer‑coupled 1073‑style sound, with harmonically rich low end, slightly resonant highs and focused mids that sit effortlessly in a mix. Without the EQ section, you get a more affordable way into genuine 1073 colour, with the added flexibility of stereo operation in a compact 1U chassis.
 
Both channels use Carnhill transformer‑coupled inputs and the same Class A discrete components found in BAE’s full 1073 and 1084 units, giving you up to 71 dB of gain with a wide 10 Hz to -3 dB at 55 kHz frequency response and an equivalent input noise around -110 dBu. A mic input impedance selector lets you switch between approximately 1200 and 300 ohms, so you can either keep dynamics and condensers clean and open or deliberately load them for more character; ribbons also benefit from the lower setting. Each channel also offers a balanced line input, allowing the 1073MP to act as a line‑level colour box on 2‑bus mixes, stems and outboard returns, and a high‑impedance DI input capable of handling both passive and active instruments.
 
Illuminated push‑buttons for phase reverse and +48 V phantom power on each channel, along with a direct input switch and a line (LN) mode, make the 1073MP Dual a practical, workhorse front‑end for serious studios. Because this version ships without a power supply, it is ideal if you already own a compatible regulated linear BAE PSU – one supply can power up to four channels of 1073MP, keeping the mains transformer out of the audio chassis and reducing noise.
