The BAE 1073 Dual DMP is the stereo version of BAE’s popular 1073 desktop mic pre, packing two genuine 1073‑style Class A mic preamps and DIs into a compact, road‑ready desktop chassis. Each channel uses the same preamp circuit and Carnhill (St Ives) transformers as BAE’s full‑size 1073 and 1084 units, so you get the familiar harmonically rich low end, punchy midrange and smooth high‑frequency sheen that define the classic British console sound – but in a self‑contained, portable format that is just as happy on a studio desk as it is on a tour bus.
 
Both channels share the 1073DMP specification: frequency response from 10 Hz to -3 dB at 55 kHz, mic input impedance around 1200 ohms, DI input impedance around 150k ohms, output impedance about 65 ohms, maximum output level around +27.4 dBu into 600 ohms and an equivalent input noise of roughly -110 dBu. With up to around 71 dB of gain on tap in 5 dB steps, the Dual DMP comfortably handles everything from passive ribbon mics on quiet sources to aggressive drum rooms and loud stages. The front panel provides a red stepped gain control and grey output level knob for each channel, letting you drive the transformers for colour while trimming the level to your interface or recorder.
 
Channel one comes standard with the “Bootsy Collins” DI mod: a Jensen or OEP Carnhill DI transformer on the instrument input, turning it into a high‑end 1073‑style direct box for bass, guitar and synths. Each channel offers a DI input and at least one DI thru (two DI thrus total), so you can feed an amp and an additional destination simultaneously when tracking. Both channels also feature 48 V phantom‑power switches and phase‑reverse switches, making it easy to integrate a wide range of condenser, dynamic and ribbon microphones. The built‑in universal PSU (115/230 VAC) means there is no external power brick to lose or hum to worry about, and the solid steel chassis is designed to withstand heavy touring and mobile‑recording use.
