Its wide-baffle design maintains controlled, largely unidirectional behaviour down to approximately 250 Hz, while its carefully managed off-axis response helps limit the influence of early room reflections. The system uses dedicated conversion and amplification for each driver. Integrated Hypex NCore Class D power amplification delivers low distortion, high control and fast transient response, while the DSP-based crossover is designed to retain accurate time-domain behaviour. A true active monitoring system
 
The LS1a accepts one balanced analogue stereo source and up to three AES/EBU digital sources, making it equally at home in a modern production room, mastering suite or high-end playback system. With the optional LS1i USB interface, a computer can become a direct high-resolution source, supporting PCM playback up to 384 kHz as well as DXD, DSD64 and DSD128.
Integrated volume and source control eliminate the need for a separate preamplifier in many systems. The optional Grimm Audio LS1r remote provides intuitive control of level, input selection and mute, while compatible Grimm components such as the MU1 can form an elegant, fully integrated digital playback chain.
 
Scalable bass and room integration
 
Used on its own, the LS1a delivers deep, controlled bass from a compact sealed two-way architecture. When the room, programme material or workflow demands greater low-frequency headroom, it can be extended with Grimm Audio LS1s or SB1 subwoofers. The LS1a includes a filtered analogue subwoofer output and an integrated, phase-corrected crossover, enabling a coherent three-way configuration without adding unnecessary complexity.
