The Bettermaker Mastering Equalizer is a high-end analogue stereo mastering EQ with four fully parametric bands, an additional passive EQ section, extended Air Band processing, high-pass and low-pass filters, stereo/dual-mono/Mid-Side modes, digital recall and DAW automation. It provides mastering-grade tonal control in a fully analogue audio path with the convenience of modern hybrid workflow integration.
The Bettermaker Mastering Equalizer brings together two complementary approaches to analogue equalisation: four flexible parametric EQ bands for precision work, and a dedicated passive EQ section for broad, musical tonal shaping. Designed for mastering, stereo-bus processing and high-end mix work, it combines a fully analogue audio path with digitally controlled parameters, touch-screen operation, plug-in automation and instant recall.
The unit operates in stereo, dual-mono and Mid/Side modes. In stereo operation, both channels are adjusted together for balanced processing of a full mix or stereo source. Dual-mono mode supports independent left and right settings, while Mid/Side mode makes it possible to process centre information and stereo ambience separately. The Solo function allows focused monitoring of the Mid or Side component, helping engineers make better-informed decisions when adjusting low end, vocal presence, stereo width and high-frequency content.
Four analogue parametric EQ bands provide the precision section of the design. Each band offers up to ±15 dB of boost or cut with adjustable frequency and Q. EQ 1 covers 22 Hz to 470 Hz and can be switched between bell and shelf response, making it suitable for sub-frequency control, low-end weight and broad bass shaping. EQ 2 covers 90 Hz to 2 kHz, EQ 3 covers 400 Hz to 10 kHz, and EQ 4 covers 1 kHz to 23 kHz; EQ 4 can also switch between bell and shelf operation.
The variable Q control offers a broad-to-focused range, allowing wide, transparent corrections or more surgical adjustments. This makes the Mastering Equalizer flexible enough to solve specific tonal issues while retaining the musical character required for mix-bus and mastering work. Bands can be used independently or layered to shape a complete spectrum with highly repeatable settings.
In addition to the parametric section, the Mastering Equalizer includes a dedicated passive stereo EQ. This passive stage provides low-frequency boost and attenuation at separately selectable frequencies, allowing classic passive-EQ curves that can add low-end weight while reducing unwanted bloom. The extended high-frequency boost section includes 20 kHz and 28 kHz Air Band options for adding openness, detail and polished high-frequency lift without relying on aggressive upper-midrange boost.
The high-pass filter can be set to 12 dB or 24 dB per octave, with a selectable cutoff from 10 Hz to 250 Hz and an optional resonance function. This makes it practical for removing subsonic energy, tightening the bottom end of a master or creating intentional low-frequency contouring. The low-pass filter provides 12 dB per octave filtering from 2 kHz to 38 kHz, supporting gentle top-end control, taming excessive ultrasonic energy or shaping the overall spectral balance of a programme.
The front-panel touchscreen displays real-time EQ curves and analyser information, while the supplied plug-in offers remote control, full DAW automation, session recall, preset handling and A/B comparison. Up to 399 presets can be stored internally, enabling fast restoration of analogue settings for mix revisions, client recalls and repeat mastering sessions.
With balanced XLR I/O, high headroom and detailed gain control, the Bettermaker Mastering Equalizer is a comprehensive analogue EQ platform for mastering engineers, mix engineers and producers who need both precision and musicality—with no need to manually document or rebuild settings between sessions. The Mastering Equalizer’s combination of analogue processing and digital workflow control is the defining Bettermaker advantage.
