The BAE 1073MP Dual Channel with Power Supply is a 19" rackmount mic preamp that distils the essence of the classic 1073 console input stage into two Class A channels, without the EQ section. Each channel delivers the same 1073‑style sound – harmonically rich low end, slightly resonant highs and focused mids – in a compact, modern format that makes a perfect stereo tracking front‑end or mix‑bus colour box for any studio.
 
 
 
Each of the two channels uses a Carnhill transformer‑coupled input and the same Class A discrete amplifier cards found in BAE’s full 1073 units, providing up to 71 dB of gain with a wide 10 Hz to -3 dB at 55 kHz frequency response and an equivalent input noise around -110 dBu. A mic input impedance selector lets you switch between roughly 1200 and 300 ohms per channel, so you can either keep condensers and dynamics clean and open at 1200 ohms or deliberately load ribbons and dynamics at 300 ohms for a thicker, more coloured tone. In addition to the mic inputs, each channel also features a balanced line input, allowing the 1073MP Dual to act as a stereo line preamp for stems, mix buses and outboard loops, and a high‑impedance DI input for guitars, basses and synths.
 
 
 
On the front panel you’ll find the familiar red stepped input gain knobs, separate output level controls, and clearly labelled switches for phase reverse, +48 V phantom power, mic/DI selection and line input mode for each channel. This layout gives you precise control over how hard you hit the transformers and amp stage, while the output knobs make it easy to drive the input for colour and then trim the level going into your converters. The included external regulated linear power supply is deliberately oversized and designed to power up to four channels of 1073MP, keeping the mains transformer out of the audio chassis for lower noise and improved headroom. If needed, optional mods such as the Steve Stevens blend (analogue channel summing) can extend the creative possibilities even further.
