BAE Audio 1073MP Dual Channel w/ Power Supply
The BAE 1073MPF Dual Channel with Filter & Power Supply is the deluxe version of the 1073MP concept: a dual‑channel Class A mic preamp based on the legendary 1073 input stage, upgraded with an inductor‑based high‑pass filter on each channel. You get the same 1073‑style sound – harmonically rich low end, slightly resonant highs and focused mids – plus precise control over the low‑frequency content before it ever hits compression or converters, making it an exceptionally powerful stereo front‑end for modern studios.
Each channel is built around a transformer‑coupled input using Carnhill iron and the same discrete Class A components as BAE’s full 1073 and 1084 units. With up to 71 dB of gain, a 10 Hz to -3 dB at 55 kHz frequency response and an equivalent input noise around -110 dBu, the 1073MPF Dual handles everything from quiet ribbon mics to hot line sources while staying open, punchy and distinctly coloured. A mic input impedance switch (1200/300 ohms) lets you optimise headroom and tone for a wide variety of dynamics, condensers and ribbon microphones, while balanced line XLR inputs on each channel turn the unit into a high‑end line preamp for stems, mixdowns and outboard returns. The high‑impedance DI inputs on the front panel make it easy to track guitars, basses and synths with the same transformer warmth and detail.
The standout feature is the inductor‑based high‑pass filter section on each channel, derived from the filter circuit in the full 1073. With a fixed 18 dB‑per‑octave slope and switchable cutoff points at 50 Hz, 80 Hz, 160 Hz and 300 Hz, it lets you remove rumble, stage noise and low‑end build‑up right at the preamp, without thinning out the sound. Each channel also offers illuminated switches for phase reverse and 48 V phantom power, plus controls for mic/DI and line modes, making the 1073MPF Dual incredibly flexible in daily use.
The included external regulated linear power supply is capable of running up to four channels of 1073MP/MPF, keeping mains transformers out of the audio chassis and helping preserve headroom and low noise. Housed in a 19" 1U rackmount chassis with classic RAF blue‑grey livery and BAE’s rugged, modular build, the 1073MPF Dual Channel with Filter and PSU is a serious two‑channel front‑end for tracking vocals, guitars, drums, synths and more when you want genuine 1073‑style tone plus precise low‑end management.
