The PSI Audio A226-MAIN Right Dark Red is the right-channel version of PSI Audio’s flagship active main-monitor system. Its fully analogue four-driver architecture combines two symmetrically arranged 10-inch woofers, an EXD midrange driver and a new aluminium-coil tweeter for full-range precision, exceptional headroom and phase-controlled mastering-grade monitoring.

The PSI Audio A226-MAIN Right Dark Red is the right-channel counterpart to the A226-MAIN Left and forms one half of PSI Audio’s flagship stereo main-monitor system. It is designed for mastering studios, high-end mix rooms, large control rooms and immersive-production environments where monitoring must remain accurate at high playback levels, over longer listening distances and across the entire audible frequency range.

Designed and handmade in Switzerland, the A226-MAIN is PSI Audio’s most ambitious studio monitor. Its fully analogue three-way, four-driver architecture combines twin 10-inch woofers, a dedicated Extended Dome Driver midrange and a newly developed handmade tweeter with aluminium voice coil. The result is a main-monitor system designed to provide reliable translation, high-level transparency, controlled low-frequency extension and stable imaging for the most demanding professional work.

This product is the right-channel monitor. It must be combined with the corresponding PSI Audio A226-MAIN Left Dark Red to create a correctly oriented stereo pair. The midrange/tweeter module can be rotated by 90 degrees, enabling correct driver orientation and acoustic symmetry for the right-hand position in relation to the listening position.

The two 10-inch woofers are arranged symmetrically around the dedicated midrange/tweeter section in a D’Appolito-style configuration. Both woofers reproduce the same low-frequency signal, helping create a controlled radiation pattern, wide listening area and reduced unwanted interaction with floors and ceilings. This supports powerful low-frequency output without sacrificing definition, making the A226-MAIN especially useful for mastering, high-end mixing, orchestral work, film scoring and bass-intensive electronic production.

The A226-MAIN is fully analogue. No DSP, digital crossover or internal audio conversion is used. PSI Audio relies on purpose-built drivers, custom analogue electronics, dedicated power amplifiers and individual anechoic calibration. This delivers direct transient response, very low system latency and a stable monitoring reference for critical decisions involving sub-bass, compression, EQ, depth, panning and spatial processing.

Each woofer receives 250 W of dedicated amplification, for 500 W total low-frequency power. The Extended Dome Driver midrange receives 150 W and the handmade aluminium-coil tweeter receives 65 W. This four-amplifier topology provides substantial headroom, allowing the monitor to remain composed on dense mixes, large dynamic peaks and sustained high-level programme material.

The A226-MAIN reaches from 20 Hz to 23 kHz at −6 dB, with a ±1.2 dB tolerance from 38 Hz to 20 kHz. This gives the system genuine full-range monitoring capability and reduces the need for a separate subwoofer in most stereo mastering and control-room installations. It allows engineers to assess kick drum extension, low-frequency phase interaction, bass guitar definition, subharmonic energy and the overall relationship between deep bass and midrange clarity.

PSI Audio’s CPR, Compensated Phase Response, maintains controlled phase behaviour through the crossover regions. With a specified phase tolerance of ±45° from 150 Hz to 20 kHz, the A226-MAIN supports highly stable imaging, accurate depth perception and clear transient reproduction. These qualities are especially important in mastering, where small changes to EQ, dynamics, stereo width and ambience need to remain precisely audible.

The A226-MAIN also includes PSI Audio’s AOI, Active Output Impedance, technology. AOI actively controls driver behaviour to reduce unwanted resonance and improve bass damping. Combined with the reinforced MDF cabinet and dual Flow Guide bass-reflex system, it supports tightly controlled low-frequency decay, clean high-SPL behaviour and consistent translation in large-room monitoring environments.

The monitor delivers 113 dB continuous SPL, 116 dB short-term SPL and up to 126 dB peak SPL at one metre. Its 80° horizontal by 40° vertical dispersion provides a broad, stable monitoring field while limiting unwanted energy toward the ceiling and floor. The recommended listening distance is approximately 2 to 5.5 metres.

With its 960 mm height, 399 mm width, 496 mm depth and approximately 80 kg cabinet weight, the A226-MAIN Right is a serious installed main-monitor system. The Dark Red finish gives it PSI Audio’s distinctive studio appearance, while its individual calibration supports accurate matching with the corresponding left monitor for stereo, mastering, surround and immersive systems.
