Nordic Audio Labs is a Finnish boutique microphone manufacturer known for hand-made studio microphones, in-house machining and a design philosophy centered on realism, musicality and detail. Rather than following generic condenser voicings, the company develops distinctive large-diaphragm microphones with custom capsules, individually measured performance and a sound that blends natural clarity, smooth highs and rich harmonic depth, as heard in models like the NU‑24K, NU‑100K and the new VÄRI Microphone System.
The brand grew out of Martin Kantola’s decades-long pursuit of exceptional microphone sound after an early encounter with a classic Neumann U47 inspired him to build his first NU-47. Beyond Nordic Audio Labs, Kantola is also known for his wider audio design work, including Amphion, and today every stage of development, manufacturing and testing takes place in northwest Finland, where each microphone is hand-made and individually measured for consistency, craftsmanship and sonic integrity.
