The Bettermaker Stereo Passive Equalizer combines the broad, musical curves of a passive analogue equalizer with the speed, precision and repeatability of plug-in control. Its 100% analogue signal path, digital parameter control, DAW automation and instant recall make it a powerful tool for tracking, mixing, mix-bus processing and mastering.
Product description
The Bettermaker Stereo Passive Equalizer is designed for engineers who want the unmistakably musical behaviour of a high-end passive analogue EQ without sacrificing the recall, automation and workflow advantages of a modern DAW environment.
At its core, the Stereo Passive Equalizer uses a fully analogue passive filter network inspired by classic inductor-based equalizer designs. The audio remains in the analogue domain, while its parameters are digitally controlled and can be stored, recalled and automated from the front panel or the dedicated DAW plug-in. This hybrid approach allows you to work with genuine analogue EQ curves while maintaining the session recall and revision speed normally associated with software processing.
The dual-channel architecture supports stereo or dual-mono operation. Use it across a stereo mix bus, mastering chain, drum bus, piano recording or stereo instrument source, or treat the two channels independently for individual tracks. High-resolution stepped control provides accurate matching between channels and repeatable EQ moves, which is especially valuable in mix revision, mastering and commercial studio workflows.
The low-frequency section provides selectable boost and attenuation frequencies at 20 Hz, 30 Hz, 60 Hz and 100 Hz. Like classic passive EQ designs, it allows simultaneous low boost and low attenuation, making it possible to add depth and weight while controlling unwanted low-frequency bloom. This is useful for bass, kick drum, acoustic instruments, drum buses and full mixes.
The high-frequency boost section offers ten frequency options from 3 kHz to 28 kHz, including an extended Air Band. Use it to add openness, definition, presence and high-frequency polish to vocals, overheads, acoustic guitar, piano, stereo buses and mastering material. A variable bandwidth control adjusts the shape of the high-frequency boost, moving from broad tonal enhancement to a more focused response.
High-frequency attenuation is available at 5 kHz, 10 kHz and 20 kHz. This allows engineers to gently control harshness, excessive brightness or upper-frequency density while retaining the natural character of the source. Combined with high-frequency boost, it supports sophisticated passive-EQ curves for shaping air, presence and tonal balance.
The output-gain stage offers ±8 dB adjustment in 0.1 dB steps, allowing accurate gain matching when comparing processed and unprocessed signals. This is important for critical listening: it helps ensure that decisions are made based on tonal changes rather than simple loudness differences.
The supplied Stereo Passive EQ plug-in integrates with compatible DAWs and enables remote hardware control, parameter automation, preset management, snapshot storage and A/B comparison. Hardware settings can be recalled rapidly when reopening a session, making the unit especially practical for hybrid mixing engineers and mastering studios that need genuine analogue processing without manual note-taking or time-consuming reset procedures.
With balanced XLR inputs and outputs, 2U rackmount format and mastering-grade specifications, the Bettermaker Stereo Passive Equalizer is suited to engineers who want classic passive-EQ depth and musicality with a significantly more efficient analogue workflow.
