The BeesNeez Pro Audio Tribute 1 is an Australian-made large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone inspired by the presence, depth and tonal authority of the classic Neumann U47. Combining a BeesNeez M7 capsule, an EF13 tube and a custom BV08L output transformer, it brings that recording tradition into an original BeesNeez design with nine selectable polar patterns.

Rather than reproducing a historical U47 component for component, Tribute 1 is BeesNeez’s interpretation of its sonic character. Its combination of capsule construction, valve circuitry and transformer coupling is intended to provide a rich, detailed midrange, smooth high frequencies and a substantial low-frequency foundation. For engineers selecting a microphone around the performer, it offers a characterful alternative to a more neutral solid-state condenser.

At the centre of the microphone is the BeesNeez M7 capsule, developed around the dimensions and tonal signature of the original PVC-based design. The capsule forms the foundation of Tribute 1’s presentation, supporting the body and presence associated with M7-based tube microphones. It is particularly relevant to recording situations where vocal texture, instrumental weight and a convincing sense of scale matter.

The EF13 tube works with the BeesNeez BV08L transformer as part of a dedicated microphone circuit. BeesNeez describes this combination as contributing warmth, harmonic depth and dimensionality. These are tonal characteristics rather than substitutes for recording technique: matching the microphone to the source and choosing the right placement remain essential.

Nine selectable polar patterns extend its versatility beyond a conventional two-pattern U47-style configuration. The range covers omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-eight, with intermediate settings that allow finer adjustment of direct sound, room pickup and rejection. This provides engineers with additional creative control during vocal, instrument and ensemble sessions.

Cardioid is a practical starting point for close recording when reduced rear pickup is desirable. Omnidirectional settings offer another perspective when the room’s contribution is welcome, while figure-eight provides side rejection and pickup from the front and rear. Intermediate patterns allow the directional response to be tailored more closely to the recording arrangement.

Tribute 1 can be considered for lead vocals, spoken word, acoustic instruments and room recording where a full-bodied tube-microphone presentation complements the production. Its pattern flexibility also makes it useful when exploring different distances and acoustic perspectives without changing microphones. The best application depends on the performer, instrument and recording space.

The manufacturer specifies a frequency response of 40 Hz to 17 kHz across all polar patterns, a maximum sound pressure level of 125 dB and an output impedance of 150 ohms. These figures describe the microphone’s published operating characteristics without implying that every source or room will produce the same tonal result.

Tribute 1 operates from a dedicated external microphone power supply rather than standard 48 V phantom power. The correct mains configuration and connection procedure should be confirmed using the supplied instructions before operation.

Created in-house in Australia, Tribute 1 combines BeesNeez capsule manufacturing and transformer design with a distinctive original microphone concept. For producers and engineers seeking U47-inspired character with broader directional flexibility, it offers a versatile studio tool built around the M7 capsule, EF13 valve and BV08L transformer.
