BAE Audio 1073MPF Dual Channel w/ Filter, No Power Supply

The BAE 1073MPF Dual Channel with Filter, No Power Supply is the dual‑channel high‑pass filter version of the BAE 1073MP, aimed at engineers who already own a compatible BAE power supply and want to add two more 1073‑style channels. Each side of the 19" 1U chassis is a Class A mic preamp based on the legendary 1073 input stage, with the same harmonically rich low end, slight resonant highs and focused mids that define the classic British console sound – now enhanced by an inductor‑based high‑pass filter on each channel.

Inside, both channels share the same all‑Class A, transformer‑coupled topology as the full BAE 1073 and 1084 units, including Carnhill transformer‑coupled mic inputs and discrete amplifier cards. With 0–71 dB of gain, a frequency response from 10 Hz to -3 dB at 55 kHz and an equivalent input noise around -110 dBu, the 1073MPF Dual maintains its sonic signature across a wide bandwidth whether you are driving ribbons, dynamics or condensers. A mic input impedance selector offers 1200 or 300 ohms per channel, allowing you to either maximise headroom and clarity or deliberately load microphones for extra warmth and character. On the rear panel, balanced line‑level XLR inputs provide extra versatility, turning each channel into a line preamp for stems, mix buses and outboard returns, while the front‑panel high‑impedance DI inputs make it easy to track guitars, bass and synths directly into the transformer‑coupled path.

The inductor‑based high‑pass filter is the key upgrade over the standard 1073MP. Each channel features a steep 18 dB‑per‑octave HPF with switchable cutoff at 50 Hz, 80 Hz, 160 Hz and 300 Hz, derived from the filter circuit in the full 1073. That lets you remove stage rumble, handling noise and low‑end build‑up before compression or EQ further down the chain, tightening the bottom end while keeping the overall tone full and musical. Each channel also includes illuminated switches for phase reverse and 48 V phantom power, as well as toggles for direct input and line mode, so you can configure the unit quickly for any session.

This “no power supply” version is designed specifically for users who already have a BAE 24 V regulated linear PSU and want to extend their system. One PSU can power up to four channels of 1073MP/MPF, so adding a Dual NOPS unit is an efficient way to expand your front‑end without duplicating power hardware. For engineers building a modular analogue front‑end around the 1073 sound, the BAE 1073MPF Dual Channel with Filter, No Power Supply is a smart, flexible way to gain two more channels of genuine 1073‑style tone and control.
