The Audient Horizon 16 is a professional 34-in / 34-out Thunderbolt 3 audio interface and converter for hybrid mixing studios, analogue outboard workflows and high-channel-count production environments. With 16 channels of balanced line I/O via four DB25 connectors, dedicated stereo mix-bus inputs, 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion and up to 133 dB dynamic range, it provides a high-performance bridge between your DAW and analogue studio hardware.

Designed for engineers working with external converters, summing systems, synthesizers and multi-channel outboard, Horizon 16 is a dedicated line-level conversion platform rather than a microphone-preamp interface. Its 16 balanced line inputs and 16 balanced line outputs allow permanent integration of compressors, equalisers, analogue effects, stereo processors, external preamps, tape machines, hardware instruments and patchbays.

Dedicated stereo mix-bus inputs are a major advantage for hybrid mixing. They let you return the output of an analogue summing mixer, external mix bus or stereo bus-compressor chain directly to your DAW without occupying two of the 16 primary line inputs. This keeps your main I/O available for stems, processors, instruments and external sources while you print your final analogue mix.

Horizon 16 combines 32-bit / 192 kHz AD/DA conversion with up to 133 dB dynamic range to preserve the depth, transient detail and stereo image of high-quality analogue equipment. It is suited to sending DAW stems through outboard chains, recording line-level instruments, capturing stereo mix-bus processing and managing a permanently connected analogue rack.

Thunderbolt 3 provides round-trip latency from 0.99 ms at 192 kHz with a 64-sample buffer, supporting responsive native DAW monitoring and plug-in workflows without requiring a proprietary DSP platform. Actual performance depends on the Mac, DAW, plug-ins, sample rate, buffer setting and session complexity.

Dual ADAT input and output ports provide expansion with compatible microphone preamps and converters, while BNC Word Clock input and output support reliable synchronisation within larger digital studio systems. Up to four Horizon interfaces can be daisy-chained under one driver, creating a scalable setup with up to 200 × 200 I/O.

Dedicated stereo monitor outputs provide independent reference monitoring without reducing the main 16-channel line-output count. Hardware monitor functions include mono, polarity, dim and selectable reference level. Horizon Control software adds a virtual patchbay, flexible routing, custom monitoring configuration and extensive metering.

Horizon 16 is housed in a silent, fanless 1U all-metal rackmount chassis. It is designed for macOS-based systems and requires a compatible Thunderbolt 3 connection.

Important compatibility note: Audient Horizon 16 is designed for macOS systems with Thunderbolt 3. Please check your Mac and Thunderbolt compatibility before ordering.
