Synergistic Research PowerCell 14 Line Conditioner

The Synergistic Research PowerCell 14 is a high-end audiophile power conditioner designed for serious stereo and home audio systems that require ample, clean power for multiple components. With 14 outlets, advanced EM Cell technology and an integrated ULF generator, it brings much of the flagship SRX performance to demanding EU‑based systems at a more accessible level.

Outlets, banks and connectivity

The PowerCell 14 features a Neutrik Powercon 32 A power input feeding 14 UEF Purple Schuko outlets arranged in three isolated banks: one high‑current bank for amplifiers and two additional isolated banks for source components and preamps. This layout helps separate analog and digital loads, reducing noise transfer between components and improving overall system clarity.

EM Cells and supercap behaviour

Inside, seven second‑generation SRX folded EM Cells plus one horizontal‑plane EM Cell are used to condition the AC line. These redesigned EM Cells offer 100 times the surface area and energy storage of previous generations, acting both as powerful line conditioners and as supercaps that increase peak current delivery, allowing even power‑hungry amplifiers to sound more dynamic and effortless compared to being plugged directly into the wall.

Re‑engineered ULF and DC biasing

The PowerCell 14 uses a power supply and ULF field generator derived from the Galileo SX PowerCell, but further evolved to deliver a reformulated ultra‑low‑frequency RF bias to the EM Cells. New 24k gold UEF tuning circuits add harmonic richness and enhanced musicality, while updated integration of ULF and DC bias allows more precise control over the phase points of the bias frequencies for a more welcoming, natural sound.

Three‑frequency bias tuning

Three selectable bias “voicings” let you fine‑tune the presentation to your system and taste:

Blue (default): relaxed midrange with linear transition from bass to highs and a large, enveloping soundstage.
Green: slightly more forward midrange with additional bass emphasis.
Red: optimized to convincingly portray large‑scale performances and electronic music.

Grounding and chassis design

An internal UEF Ground Plane, first developed for the Galileo SX PowerCell, lowers the noise floor and expands soundstage. The PowerCell 14 can also be connected to a Synergistic Research Active Ground Block, further improving low‑frequency weight and attack without sacrificing any of the 14 outlets. The mechanically and electromagnetically voiced chassis, machined from aircraft‑grade aluminum, carbon fiber and plexiglass, helps control resonances and optimizes the effect of the EM Cells on the AC field.

Lighting and dimensions

A plexiglass top and front window reveal the hand‑built circuit, with nine selectable internal light colors (including the option to switch lighting off) so you can visually integrate the PowerCell 14 into your system. Weighing 13 kg and measuring 44.5 × 34 × 14 cm (17.5 × 13.5 × 5.5 inch), it offers substantial build quality with practical dimensions for rack or shelf installation.
