The Soyuz 023 Bomblet is a dual large‑diaphragm FET condenser microphone designed as a versatile “character” mic that can live permanently in front of your favourite sources. Its custom S23 capsule is inspired by the legendary Soviet‑era LOMO designs – in particular the 19A19/19A21 – and is built in‑house with two 33 mm membranes (one gold‑sputtered) and a unique triple‑backplate construction. Paired with Soyuz’s proprietary toroidal transformer and a carefully tuned solid‑state circuit, this gives the Bomblet a rich, harmonically complex tone with a distinct blend of colour and clarity.
Sonically, the 023 Bomblet is known for its thick, punchy low end, smooth midrange and an open but forgiving top that tames aggressive high‑frequency content instead of exaggerating it. This makes it a natural fit for drum overheads, kick drum (just outside the head), room mics, guitar and bass cabinets, horns and brighter vocals, where it can add weight and size while keeping transients under control.
