The PSI Audio A14-M Studio Metal Black is a compact Swiss-made two-way active nearfield monitor for desktop production, editing, broadcast and smaller control rooms. Its fully analogue signal path, individually calibrated drivers, AOI bass control and CPR phase-response technology provide accurate translation, precise imaging and professional monitoring without DSP.
The PSI Audio A14-M Studio Metal Black is a compact active nearfield monitor for producers, engineers, editors and content creators who need reliable professional monitoring where space is limited. Handmade and individually calibrated in Switzerland, it brings PSI Audio’s analogue monitoring philosophy to desktop workstations, compact control rooms, edit suites, mobile recording rigs and broadcast applications.
The A14-M uses a fully analogue audio path. There is no DSP, digital crossover or software-dependent correction in the monitor signal path. PSI Audio instead combines purpose-built drivers, dedicated analogue amplification, controlled crossover integration and individual anechoic calibration. This creates a direct, low-latency reference for decisions about EQ, dynamics, panning, timing, dialogue clarity and stereo placement.
The two-way system uses a 147 mm woofer and a 24 mm dome tweeter. The compact bass-reflex cabinet reaches down to 56 Hz at −6 dB, giving the user useful low-frequency information for bass, kick drum, dialogue editing and electronic music production without making the cabinet impractically large. The drivers are powered by separate Class A/B amplifiers rated at 70 W RMS for the woofer and 30 W RMS for the tweeter.
PSI Audio’s CPR, Compensated Phase Response, is designed to control phase behaviour around the crossover region. This helps preserve transient definition, stable stereo imaging and reliable depth perception. In practical sessions, it supports more confident decisions about panning, vocal position, reverb tails, timing effects and mono compatibility.
The A14-M also uses PSI Audio’s AOI, Active Output Impedance, technology. AOI is designed to improve driver control and reduce unwanted resonance effects. Together with the analogue crossover and dedicated amplification, it supports tighter bass behaviour and a more informative response at the close listening distances typical of desktop and nearfield work.
The A14-M Studio Metal Black delivers up to 113 dB peak SPL at one metre. Its compact dimensions and focused dispersion make it particularly suitable for working distances between approximately 0.5 and 1 metre. It can be used on dedicated monitor stands, compact meter bridges or desktop monitor supports, provided it is positioned carefully and decoupled from the working surface.
The rear panel includes a balanced XLR input, input-sensitivity adjustment and a 100 Hz bass-roll-off control. These controls allow the A14-M to be adapted to the monitor controller, interface output level and placement conditions, including desktop operation and near-wall positioning.
The Metal Black finish gives the A14-M a discreet and professional appearance. Each monitor is individually measured and calibrated before delivery, helping ensure consistent stereo matching and reliable results in stereo, surround and immersive-monitoring systems.
The A14-M belongs first in Studio Monitors. It is ideal where neutral, phase-controlled nearfield monitoring matters more than exaggerated bass or consumer-style voicing. For extended low-frequency monitoring and higher headroom, it can be paired with a PSI Audio A125-M subwoofer.
