Bettermaker Meterbox – Dual-Display DAW Metering Station

The Bettermaker Meterbox gives essential audio measurements a dedicated place on your desk. Two matte displays show loudness, levels, frequency analysis and phase information without occupying additional space on your DAW screen.

A dedicated plugin sends measurement data from your session to the hardware. One USB-C connection carries both data and power, with no separate power supply or additional audio cabling to the Meterbox.

Use it to keep important measurements visible while your computer screen remains focused on the arrangement, mixer or processing chain.

Two displays, different perspectives

Each display can show a different measurement. Keep loudness in view on one screen while watching frequency content on the other, or use the displays for separate left and right channel views.

The matte screens and wide viewing angles are designed for visibility from different working positions. Place the unit where it supports your workflow rather than continually opening, moving and resizing plugin windows.

Loudness, true peak and level metering

Meterbox supports LUFS/LKFS loudness, peak and RMS levels, dBFS and dBTP true-peak measurements.

These readings answer different questions. Loudness helps assess programme level, while peak and true-peak readings provide information about signal headroom and potential digital overs.

Keep the relevant measurements visible when balancing a mix, comparing revisions or checking a final delivery. Meterbox displays the information; it does not automatically normalise, limit or certify your audio.

Frequency analysis and phase correlation

The real-time analyser provides a visual view of frequency content, complementing what you hear through your monitors.

Extended phase correlation offers another perspective on the relationship between channels. It can help draw attention to stereo compatibility concerns, but it does not replace mono listening checks or automatically repair phase problems.

Together, these tools make it easier to observe changes while adjusting processing, routing or balance.

Familiar metering formats

Alongside digital loudness and level measurements, Meterbox includes K-System, Dorrough-style, VU and PPM displays.

Select the presentation appropriate to the task rather than relying on one meter for every decision. Different formats provide different perspectives on signal behaviour and help accommodate established studio workflows.

Watch tracks, buses and stems with node plugins

Additional Meterbox node plugins send measurement data from other channels in the session to the hardware.

Place nodes on the tracks, buses or stems you want to observe and display measurements from 4 to 16 channels across the two screens.

This is particularly useful when monitoring several important signals without continually switching between separate meter windows. It does not mean the unit contains 16 physical audio inputs or automatically provides every type of multichannel loudness analysis.

USB-C integration without another audio path

Meterbox receives its measurements from software running in the DAW. It does not need to be inserted between your audio interface and loudspeakers.

The USB-C connection carries power and measurement data. The device is not a replacement for an audio interface, monitor controller or standalone analyser with physical audio inputs.

To measure an external hardware chain, first route its return into the DAW through an appropriate interface, then meter it within the session.

Practical tools for everyday sessions

A built-in clock, session timer and visual metronome add useful timing information to the desktop display.

These tools extend the unit’s role beyond detailed audio analysis, keeping session-related information accessible without opening another window on the computer.

Software compatibility

Published compatibility information lists macOS 10.13 or later, native Apple silicon support and Windows 8 or later. The plugin is listed in AU, VST, VST3 and AAX formats.

Check the current installer requirements against your operating system, DAW version and plugin format before ordering. Published minimum system requirements do not guarantee every combination of legacy and current software.

Is Bettermaker Meterbox right for your studio?

Choose Meterbox if you work in a DAW and want permanent, easy-to-see metering away from your main computer display.

Its appeal lies in combining software-based analysis with dedicated hardware visibility: loudness, levels, stereo relationships and frequency content remain in view while you work.

If you need to measure an analogue console or outboard chain without a computer, choose a device with the required physical audio inputs instead.
