BAE Audio 1073 19" Pair with Power Supply

The BAE 1073 19" Pair with Power Supply gives you two fully independent channels of classic 1073‑style mic/line preamp and EQ in a single rack system, complete with a dedicated external PSU. Each channel is a hand‑wired Class A reproduction of the original Neve 1073 module, built with St Ives (Carnhill) transformers, Elma switches and discrete circuitry. Together they deliver the big, authoritative British console sound on everything from lead vocals and guitars to drum overheads, piano and stereo buses.

Per channel, the 1073 provides up to 80 dB of all‑Class A, transformer‑balanced gain with a wide 10 Hz to 55 kHz frequency response and an extremely low noise floor around -110 dBu. The mic input impedance can be switched between 1200 and 300 ohms, allowing you to either maximise headroom or intentionally load dynamic and ribbon microphones for extra character. Balanced line inputs mean each channel can double as a line‑level colour box on stems, mix buses and outboard returns, while the high‑impedance DI inputs on the front panel are perfect for guitars, bass and synths.

The 3‑band EQ section on each channel follows the classic 1073 layout: a high‑frequency shelf with ±16 dB at 12 kHz; a low shelf with ±16 dB at 35 Hz, 60 Hz, 110 Hz or 220 Hz; and a powerful mid‑band with ±18 dB of peaking gain at 0.36, 0.7, 1.6, 3.2, 4.8 and 7.2 kHz. A steep 18 dB/octave high‑pass filter with selectable cutoff at 50, 80, 160 and 300 Hz lets you remove rumble and low‑end mud before compression, helping mixes stay tight and controlled. Each channel also features an output level control that works like a fader when feeding tape or converters, so you can push the input stage for saturation and then trim the level on the way out.

The included external regulated linear power supply is designed to power both channels quietly and reliably, providing multiple times the current the audio circuitry strictly needs for optimum headroom and stability. With two matched 1073‑style channels in one system, this pair is ideal for stereo tracking (overheads, room mics, acoustic guitar, piano), dual‑mono vocal chains, parallel processing and stereo bus colouration, all with the unmistakable weight and musicality of a genuine 1073‑inspired design.
